Closing the Gap with Dental Implants
When you have missing teeth or a gap in your smile, you may feel slightly self-conscious. You may have always wanted to create a healthier, more dazzling looking
smile, but were not sure how to go about doing that.
With modern dental developments, dental implants are a long-term oral
replacement that can help craft the ideal cheerful, gap-free smile that you want.
What are dental implants?
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or
bridge.
Dental implants may be an option for people who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason.
A dental implant is placed in the jawbone so that it can fuse with your natural bone and become a strong and sturdy foundation for replacement teeth.
Implants can be used to replace an individual tooth or for an implant-supported bridge or dentures containing multiple teeth.
Dental implants are the closest you can get to healthy, natural teeth. They will allow you to confidently eat, smile, laugh, talk, play and enjoy all of your regular activities of everyday life without thinking about your teeth.
How long does the procedure take?
After the treatment planning process with Dr. Joy, the two procedures described below are required with three to six months in between them
Stage 1: Implant Placement
The metal implant is placed inside jawbone and left to heal for approximately 5-6 months. The jawbone grows into and unites with the surface of the dental implant.
This process can take up to six months, which helps provide a solid base
for your new artificial tooth.
During this time a temporary tooth can be fitted for functional use and aesthetics.
Stage 2: Crown, Bridge
The final step is fitting the permanent dental crown. Dr. Joy will take images and impressions of your teeth so that a dental crown can be
custom-made to match the curvature, color, and shape of your natural teeth. This will result in natural looking, aesthetic teeth that will function naturally.
